Who'll Stop the Rain?

We headed out in the drizzle early from our hotel to the bus stop where we were set to buy tickets for our 6 and a half hour bus trip to Split. When we got there there was already a number of people waiting but before we could buy them we were approached by a fellow asking if wanted to take a taxi to Split for just 20 Kuna(about $4) more. He said they had 3 people already and needed
only two more and the trip
would be only 3 hours. With any of these kind of deals you're always a bit leary but we decided to go for it. What a good decision. So we got into Split at 12:30 rather than 4:00 in the afternoon. Here's Mary with the other passengers at our bathroom break.

We didn't take too long to find our place...Charming Mediterranean Oasis. It is a very nice, fully equipped apartment including a washing machine and it's only a 5 minute walk to the Old Town centre.

They have a great market where we bought some fresh fruit and wandered around a bit before going for dinner at Apetit, a quaint little restaurant that Mary had read good reviews on.

After dinner we did some more strolling around old town, which is all in what was once the Dicletian Palace and it's surroundings. We got some rain again today but temperature was much warmer.

We finished the day sitting in a courtyard right outside the cathedral, each of us with a large glass of wine, listening to some great old songs being performed by a couple of guys on guitars. A great finish to the day. On the song "Brown Eyed Girl" Mary couldn't restrain herself any longer and she ran into the bar to dance with a bunch of Finnish women. Did I mention it was a big glass of wine?
