Korculee, Korcula, Korculee, Korcula, Ha Ha Ha

After spending the night in Korčula, and a good breakfast, we headed out for our guided tour of the city. It didn't take us long to decide that we would like to return here and spend some more time. Our guided tours have all been included in the price of our cruise and they have all been very informative. Korčula's claim to fame is that it is the birth place of Marco Polo. Our guide said that it was 99% sure that he was born here, the 1% missing is the documentation.

After our tour we walked around town and up the bell tower and sat at an outside restaurant where we had a local glass of rose wine.

We then went back to the boat and set off for Hvar. Each day we are given breakfast usually some fruit for a snack and then a lunch, which is more like a dinner with its 5 courses!
We pulled into Hvar around four in the afternoon as it was preparing for a festival day. Hvar is another beautiful island and city known for its partying and also for its Venetian influence. Just off shore there are a number of smaller islands, the quarantine island, now a party destination and then the nudist beach island, also known for its parties. The town is overlooked by a fortress that we hiked up to for some panorama photos. Later we found a little restaurant with a couple from Ottawa, Gord and Christine. It had a top floor open terrace and we
had some good seafood fare. To finish the evening we found a caffe bar where we were joined by two more couples from Ontario.
