Never Going Back Again

Off to Beach 69 to start the day but it wasn't there.  Or at least not all of it.  There's a high surf warning for the north and west coast of the Big Island, which is good for surfers but not so good for snorkelers who aren't very good.  A lot of the beach was under water or soon to be under water as the waves washed up on the shore.  We settled in a little higher than usual but soon had to move further back.  Turned out we still weren't far enough back.  We learned a valuable rule about sitting on a beach...never sit with your back to the waves.  We learned this a little too late as we were soaked by a wave washing up and under us.
So we needed some things so off we went to Kona, one of them being a Seahawks shirt for Sunday's game.  We learned another lesson...never go in to Kona on a Friday afternoon.  The town can not handle the traffic and just as we were about to escape we realized we had left something.  So, back we went, into the storm that is Kona traffic and actually retrieved that which was lost, vowing never to return to Kona as we made our way back to our bucolic abode in Waikoloa village.

This is not a picture of either me or Mary on the surfboard....jut in case you were wondering.
