Cheeseburger in Paradise

We got up early in an attempt to get a parking pass for the beach at Mauna Kea (it works on a first come first served basis) and we were successful today.  It's another amazing beach and today it was quite quiet, I think due to the high surf warnings.  They actually closed Hapuna Beach along with 3 beaches in the Kona area because of the high surf.  They're predicting waves up to 20 feet tomorrow so the boogie board will stay on the beach.

After our quiet start we headed off to the mid-week market in Waimea.  We were a little late so we weren't able to get any of the homemade pasta that is so good.  So to compensate we headed back to the Lava Lava Beach Club for their Happy Hour and their hamburger....and a couple of beverages.  You're probably seeing a pattern here.  We also came down to catch the sunset and we weren't disappointed.  I parked myself behind this old gnarled tree on the beach at A-Bay while Mary went off looking for shells and turtles....another pattern forming.

After sunset we went off to the King's Shops to catch another free concert.  This time it was the Hawaiian swing band, Kahulanui.  They put on a great show, playing for over an hour and a half and Mary even won a free CD of theirs by knowing that Engelbert Humperdinck performed "Please Release Me".  If you get a chance check them out on You Tube.  If I get a chance I'll put one of their songs on the blog.

Another good day.

Reiny, I really appreciated that picture of Terrace you sent us.  Keep them coming.  Keeps the homesickness in check.
Yes, Brenda there really is an "Under Toad", they just call it Rip Tide.
