No Beach for You!

First day this trip where we didn't spend some time at a beach.  Instead we headed east to Waimea for two more farmer's markets.  At the first one we were able to experience the "Ultimate Hawaiian Donut, the malsada.  The malsada is a fancy name for a jelly donut, right out of the fryer, sugared and injected with a flavour, ours being mango.  The wait was worth it and I'm sure we'll find more malsadas during our trip.

Next we visited our second (really third) Waimea farmer's market.  Here we bought some more fresh tomatoes and Mary picked up a matching bowl to one she had bought here last year.

After this we travelled farther east to the small community of Honokaa and luckily the farmer's market here was already finished.  But we did manage to wander through some shops and a beautiful church.  We finished our day in Honokaa with a salad at Gramma's Kitchen, a new restaurant in town run by a Portuguese family.

Back to Waikoloa Village to finish the day with barbecued steak and potatoes finished off with a beautiful sunset.
Tomorrow...the Seahawks at the Lava Lava Beach Club.
Go, Hawks!
