Granada

The day started out very wet so we had a slower start. We first booked our tickets for the next two destinations, Malaga and Seville. Then we hopped on a city bus that took us up to the Albayzin area of town. At the recommendation of a local we got off at St. Nicholas Square which gave us a great view of Granada and of the Alhambra. We also visited the Great Mosque of Granada, which was actually a small, peaceful and very friendly little mosque.
After that we walked back into town and caught another bus, this time to the Alhambra. This is the ancient palace of the Moorish Sultans. They ruled most of Spain until the late fourteen hundreds when Ferdinand defeated the last sultan and Isabella sent Columbus off to find the Far East....end of history lesson. This is all information from Mary. I'm also supposed to say how much Mary likes the sitting area and the bathroom in our hotel...thanks, Krista.
We spent a few hours at the Alhambra, making our way through all the school groups. We visited the Palacio Nazaries, which had some incredible features in their domes and pillars and lots of tranquil spots. We also walked through the beautiful Generalife Gardens.
From there we went for wine and tapas and finished off the day. Today we will make our way to the Costa del Sol for a week.
