Granada to Benalmadena

We started the cold morning (8 degrees) standing on the street watching the church floats being carried to the cathedral. Each float was decorated with flowers surrounding Mary led by church elders, members, altar boys, you name it. These floats were heavy and being carried by about 20 men under the float. All you could see of these guys was their feet shuffling along. After about a block they would stop on a signal, usually three bangs on something, and set the float down. Some of the men would be given drinks or substituted for. Then on another signal they would lift the float and shuffle along. We read there were 33 floats, each representing a church in Granada. We strolled around through the town which was very busy because of the festival. We wanted to get into the cathedral but the line up to get in stretched around the front and side so we settled for the smaller chapel.
We caught the bus for Malaga at 3:00 and with a transfer to a local bus we were in Benalmadena and checked into the resort by 6:30. Our trip to the resort was filled with talk about padel, a Spanish racquet sport, given to us by this very charming 80 year old Brit, who was the head of the British padel organization. Quite a character.

I'm having a very slow start today. Not surewhat we're up to.

Hope all is well with everybody.

We are glad to see the sun again. Was 24 degrees when we arrived yesterday....a 16 degree swing from the morning in Granada.
