We decided that this would be a day of little travel, no bus, no train. Instead we walked around the old town of Avignon, stumbling on cobblestones and upon places Mary had read about but we hadn't found. Our main activity was a visit to the Palais du Papes, home of the popes during the 14th century. It was an impressive and informative audio guided tour with excellent views of the surrounding areas. We also walked around the Jardines de Dom just outside the palais; it is a very peaceful location, well used by the locals.
For lunch we packed a picnic of a baguette, cheese, olives and wine and took a walk across the Rhone. We found a spot just across from the Pont Benezet(Pont d'Avignon) and we just beat the rain.
Off for dinner tonight at Fou de fafa.
Bon soir.
