Later that morning we jumped on our Hop On Hop Off bus with our tour through the city, getting off at Heroes' Square. Budapest is full of statues and this square is no different. It was built in 1896 to commemorate the 1000 year anniversary of the Magyar arrival. Later it was used as a Communist parade ground and now has been converted back to its original purpose. At this site we also did a tour of the Magyar museum...lucky us, there was a large school tour at the same time. Hungarian students act a lot like Canadian students. Later we made our way to the Grand Market Hall to pick up some food and then stopped at La Botte for a little food and drink.
After a much needed late afternoon nap (for me, Mary just read more about Budapest) we braved the cold, windy streets (for which we were not prepared) and we did our night cruise of the Danube. Lots of lights and the Parliament Buildings are beautiful. Tomorrow, more bus and sites of the city.
