We stared off with a a quick visit with Tyler, Angela, Oliver and Ruby. Mary was kept busy doing jig-saw puzzles with Oliver and me playing peek-a-boo with Ruby while trying to get her to let me hold her. She's still pretty wary about me.

On the day of our flight we received an email from West Jet telling us that our flight had been changed from 11:30 pm New Year's Eve to 1:30 am New Year's Day. The problem with this was that we would not make our connection out of Toronto to Curaçao and the next flight was a week away. When Mary contacted West Jet they were very helpful and they got us a 5:00 pm flight and gave us a $150 hotel voucher as we would be arriving much earlier and would be able to get some sleep at a hotel before getting back to Pearson Airport at 7:30 am for our 9:15 flight....all good.
Of course it started snowing in Vancouver but we got out to the airport and the flight was on time. We checked in and the woman bumped us up to economy plus for our Toronto to Curaçao leg. Then they started bumping the departure time: now leaving at 5:30, now 6:00, now 6:30. We finally boarded the plane around 7:00 but sat on the runway for close to two hours as they were only using one runway duets the snow. We had a quick New Year's celebration as we flew over the 'Peg and landed in T.O. around 4:00 am. We tried a couple of hotels near the airport but then figured we wouldn't get any sleep before heading back to the airport so we didn't bother. We went to the Sheraton at the airport and for a fee we were able to have a
shower in their fitness centre.
The flight to Curaçao was good with all the percs that come with Plus seating and we arrived 30 minutes early. All is good...right? We get off the plane and become a
part of this huge line running in both directions....4 planes all disembarking at the same
time to go through immigration and customs. Two hours later we get to the rental car counter. Everything is good, we'll pick up our Kia Rio (or similar size) and be on our way. Oh, bit it's not a Rio, it's a Picanto...slightly bigger than a smart car. Back to the car rental counter where we wait before I can share my problem to be told that even though it's a picture of a Rio, it's a Picanto. Back we go to get the car which just holds our two carry on bags in its hatchback and off we go bouncing along the roads of Curaçao on our way to the Piscadera Seaview Apartments which we eventually reach after many direction changes, backtracking, &?&!@!!!
We get to our place, go off to an interesting corner store (Hong Kong Market) for morning food and crash to the sounds of fireworks going off through the night.
