Porto

So, our first night in Porto. It's a very interesting city. Very old, hilly and colourful. You can have a beautiful restored building right beside one that is crumbling down and derelict. We walked down a never ending set of stairs through some very interesting housing, probably not a place you would want to walk late at night. We got down to the most famous bridge in a city with lots of bridges, the Pont Louis I. It has 3 levels, the top for the metro and pedestrians, the middle for the trains and the bottom level for vehicles and pedestrians. We crossed on the lower level to Gaia, a community famous for all of its port cellars. We did a little strolling and then found an outside restaurant for a couple of tapas and some sangria. Then we hiked up another hill so we could walk over the bridge on the upper level, with a panoramic view of old Porto, including a view of the funicular. Lots of interesting architecture.....and hills.

Adeus from Porto.
