After Christmas in Victoria and New Year’s in Vancouver, we headed out for our flight to Sydney arriving at the airport around 7:00 in the evening for our 11:45 departure. When were able to first see our posted flight we saw that it was delayed until 1:30 because of problems in Toronto (It’s always about Toronto, isn’t it?). We checked in, had a quick bite to eat and then settled in at our gate. After one false start and a couple more delays, we were in the air at 4:00 am. The flight was okay. Mary had some problems with the turbulence and her motion sickness, but we each got an hour or two of sleep (Our eyes were closed at least) and I was able to wa tch a few movies.
We landed in Sydney at 1:30 in the afternoon and got to our lodging before 3:00, everything running smoothly. Even though we had little sleep we decided to we decided to keep going to at least 9:00 before sleeping. We took transit to the Circular Quay where we saw the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. We wandered around the harbour and the neighboring streets, stopping for dinner at an Italian place then made our way “home” and had a refueling sleep.
